It is well known that Cabarete ,Dominican Republic, is one of the best spots in the world for
kitesurfing, surfing and windsurfing.
In the month of June, the 1st round of the PKRA (kite surfing world championship) is held here at Bozo beach, on the bay of Cabarete.
The wind here picks up usually around noon, this is when athletes start searching for a wide range of activities such as surfing, boogie boarding, horseback riding on the beach or the mountains, kayaking, canyoning, mountain biking, Stand up Paddle boarding and more!
The best time for Windsurfing, Kiteboarding and Surfing:
December-February: The big Atlantic swell breaks on the reef. It is common to have days with waves higher than 2 meters. The wind blows steadily from 2 pm at 4 to 6 Beaufort, which is the perfect time for surfing.
March-June: The wind becomes stronger and more constant. This is one of the best times of the year for wave riding. After April, the water is less agitated, however, the waves are good size on the reef.
July-August: The tropical heat of the summer reinforces the wind to 6 / 7 Beaufort. The waves are generally smaller, but with some wind, still allow to jump nicely on the side of starboard. In the morning, beginners can take their first sail in the bay.
